Who we are:

Bay Area Movement Practice (BAMP) is an all-levels group led by Fabi Souza, focused on exploring the many facets of a movement practice.

What is a movement practice?

Rather than study a specific discipline such as gymnastics, martial arts, or dance, we take a generalized approach to movement - developing overall strength, coordination, agility, dexterity, and more to become more well rounded in our ability to perform movement as a whole.

Our goal is to cultivate a deeper relationship with our bodies and internal awareness and learn skills to maintain our health and longevity.

Our practice is accessible to all levels and makes sure to maintain a playful mentality. The only prerequisites for participation are an open mind and willingness to learn!

We are passionate about movement

Our group is committed to developing the movement practice of our members, creating community around our practice, and helping all of us know ourselves better and more fully.

The materials, systems, and methods we use to construct classes have either been learned directly from Johnny Sapinoso or other former students of Ido Portal, and have been shaped by working with other disciplines with our own experiences.

What to expect as a new student:

  • You will work on joint mobility, spine health, hand balancing, strength in different positions, connection and moving well with the ground.

  • You will be exposed to the foundations of the practice and learn how to advance based on where you are beginning.

  • You will learn programming for your unique body.

  • We teach all levels, ages and abilities. You can expect to see a diverse group of students. We feel that this is part of the magic and makes our training unique!

Our expectations:

Our group is geared toward students who can practice regularly with us.

We are interested in developing long term students.  We acknowledge this practice may not be for everyone (despite the practice being accessible for everyone!), and to ensure you give it a good effort, we ask for an

initial minimum commitment of 2 classes per week

Besides that, we ask that you bring a sense of humor, an open mind (and heart!), and a willingness to move and challenge your body in new ways.

Please note:

Due to the nature of this practice, a consistency of two days per week of training is the minimum necessary to really see progress with this method. If you are unable to commit to two group classes per week due to scheduling reasons, one class per week may be substituted for a personal training session with Fabi.

This personal training session is not included in the cost of the BAMP class pass and will be charged at Fabi's personal training rate. If this situation applies to you, please reach out to discuss your specific case with her.

Cost:

$250 for unlimited monthly classes

$200 for a 10 class packs, for use in one single month

Our members come from a variety of backgrounds and economic means. If finances are an issue, please discuss this when you reach out and we will do our best to find a way to accommodate you.
